DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Senior Resource Fair is scheduled for May 10, 11am-2pm at the Sturgis Enrichment Center (COA). Attendees will receive a free lunch and connect on the spot to services assisting older adults who may need a little support to enhance their living situation. Aging adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers are all encouraged to attend.\nOver 30 community agencies will be on-site providing information about:\n•           Social Groups and Activities\n•           Volunteer Opportunities\n•           Insurance\n·              Home Repair\n•           Meals on Wheels and Food Supports\n•           Medical Equipment Support\n•           Assisted Living Facilities\n•           Disability Needs\n•           In- Home Care and much more!\nAnyone needing help with transportation to this event can contact the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority at (269) 273-7808 at least 48 hours in advance for a free ride within St. Joseph County.\nThe St. Joseph County Human Services Commission (HSC) has been awarded a grant of $4,000.00 from Sturgis Area Community Foundation (SACF) to provide a Senior Resource Fair in Sturgis in 2023 and another in Three Rivers in 2024. The funding comes SACF’s Healthy Youth and Healthy Seniors Fund and will be used by the Adult Services Network, a work group of the HSC, to connect aging residents of SJC and their caregivers with local services.\nAdditional sponsors of the event include: Beltone, Burr Oak Tool, Centrica Care Navigators, For the Love of Charlie, GT Independence, Home Joy of Kalamazoo, Humana, Meijer, Skaggs Assisted Living & Memory Care, The Sparrow House Senior Living, Thurston Woods Village, and Tri-State Health and Wellness.\nKathy Olsen, HSC chair and Quality Assurance & Project Coordinator / WDB Liaison, Michigan Works!
