Household Hazardous Waste:Collected material will be handled by Drug and Laboratory. This service is available to St. Joseph County Residents only. Materials accepted:Pool chemicals, pesticides, old gas, batteries, fluorescent bulbs,oil-based paints, stains, pharmaceutical needles (sharps), smoke alarms,and more. Look for signs such as danger, combustibleMaterials not accepted:No explosives.No waste oil – it can be recycled at auto parts stores. The following fees apply: Up to 100 pounds at no charge;$1.00/lb. for everything over 100 pounds
Paper Recycling: CMS Green will be accepting cardboard, newspaper, magazines, junk mail, phone books. (NO plastics)Appliances/Scrap
Metal Recycling: Unfortunately, NO vendor available for collection. However, OmniSource, 2160 S. Centerville Rd., Sturgis will take refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, window air conditioners and scrap metal. They are open Monday-Friday from 8 am until 3:30 pm.
Electronics: Collected material will be handled by Green Earth Electronics Recycling. Materials accepted: Personal Computers, ,Laptop Computers, Scanners, Telephones, Printers, Monitors, Televisions, DVD Players,VCR’s, Game Systems,Cables, Wires, etc. Microwaves
**Please Note** St. Joseph County residents will be allowed two (2) televisions or monitors at no cost, additional tvs/monitors will be $10 each. No charge or limit on other electronics.
Tires: Cobalt Holdings will be collecting tires.

Tires must be free of Mud, Concrete, etc. Tire on rim is acceptable. Funding for Scrap Tire Disposal was made possible by a Michigan EGLEgrant. Residents will be allowed up to ten (10) passenger tires at no cost; additional tires will be charged as stated above.
Latex Paint: ePaint Recycling will offer latex paint recycling.There will be a fee of $3.00per can (regardless of amount in can).Please separate your latex paint from oil-based paint/stain.
These programs offered by the Board of Commissioners and the County Solid Waste Committee. Please note, some services have fees as listed above.
